Must Drink with a Full Glass of WATER

Ok... so, maybe THE MOST embarrassing moment happened to me on stage last night at The Meyerson. I have been under the weather for the past few weeks with a nasty sinus infection and swollen everythings... so, I'm on a number of different medications that can dry me out. SO... hydrate! "Must drink with full glass of water." should be my freakin MOTTO! I'm a good boy and I do what I'm told. ...well, mostly. At any rate, after I had settled in on the gorgeous stage of The Meyerson Symphony Center and had made it through my first aria I sat back down next to the lovely soprano, Talise Trevigno and started thinking about my next piece, the ever challenging Estuans interius. I'm not sure if it was the sight of the dots on the page or just by that time in the evening... but while my mind was saying, "Ok... calm down - time to focus and pull it together for one of the most challenging arias I have ever sung" But, my body said, "TIME TO PEE!" ...oh, Weston you say... just hold it until the end of the concert... you'll be fine. DO YOU KNOW ME? I have the bladder of a 2 year old. Ha!

So, the chorus continues along with the symphony (ABSOLUTELY BEAUTIFULLY might I add) through the next few numbers until it becomes apparent that I need to make a decision. Do I have time to leave, use the restroom, and return before my aria?? I leaned over to Talise and said, "I'll be right back" ...I quickly exited stage left, found the nearest restroom and my anxiety returned to normal. WHEW!~ I'm sure that Maestro Tortelier was a bit perplexed by my exit - as was the rest of the gang...but whaddya gunna do?? I waited for the appropriate moment and entered stage left as though it had been rehearsed, made it back to my cubby there just left of the maestro and tore into Estuans interius! A SUCCESS!!!

So, THERE! I wanna hear about YOUR close calls!!! hahahahaha!

We have Carmina Burana #3 tonight and then #4 tomorrow afternoon after which I will be headed to Toronto to start rehearsals at The Canadian Opera Company for MARIA STUARDA on Monday!
