Lonely in NY...

People people everywhere but not a one thats mine. I have to say that I love doing what I do, but sometimes it gets very hard being away from home all the time. It seems that recently it has hit harder. I'm not sure if its all the gushy mushy couples that seem to yell at me, "Ha Ha! we are in love and holding hands and kissing and you are alone..." Oh well, I am starting to see the light at the end of the tunnel. My lovely lady will be here for our opening night on the 24th and then I'll be joining her in Texas a few weeks later.

These comments allow me to bring up another point. I spoke about couples, now lets talk about the FREAKS that I can only assume make up the majority of people that reside here in NYC. Yesterday I was yelled at by a man and his tape player. This guy walks around playing his hand-held cassette player at a very high volume and yelling at people. At what point does this start sounding like a good idea? I mean, is he sitting in his apartment and just gets the idea one day? "I know what I'll do! I'll get my old crappy cassette player and go yell at people...this will solve my problems!" Seriously...its bizarre.

Another experience happened while walking over to a friend's house. This also involves some random stranger yelling, or rather "singing" at me. I was minding my own business walking down Amsterdam Ave and was aurally raped by a woman literally screaming at the top of her lungs at me. I believe that she truly thought that she was singing and that she should be compensated accordingly. I tried my best to keep moving and to think happy thoughts. :o)

My thoughts drift back to my sweetheart and my two precious kitties. It seems that I havent seen them in years although its only been a week or so since I last saw my "operawife"...I do have some merit in longing for my kitties (well, they really are adult cats) , as I havent seen their furry little faces since May. Oh well, no point in lingering in the midst of sorrow and sadness...I have an opera to sing and a recital to learn! We open in 2 weeks from tomorrow! I cant believe that I will be making my New York City Opera debut! :o) I'm very excited about this production. Yippeeee! Ok, back to work...well, after the UT/Ohio State game this evening. heehee!
