I'm back!
After a very busy week in Little Rock, AR I am finally back home. I spent this past week rehearsing with my pianist on the campus of UALR or "you-lur" for a recital that we presented this afternoon. The Marilyn Horne Foundation and Artspree there at UALR brought me to Little Rock for a week of master classes, lectures, and presentations for elementary, junior high, high school, and college students. I had a blast and the recital this afternoon went very well!
The next few days will be spent getting back into the swing of things here at the homestead and beginning to deal with TAXES! I have to get everything in order and ready to send off to my tax guy before leaving for CA on the 13th. I know, I know...I do have some time...but I want to get this stuff DONE AND DONE!
Ok, soo....for those readers that I have out there that occasionally check in for something rather odd or funny that I have experienced in my crazy life...here we go. (hi Laura) ;-) So, today after the recital the presenters took me out to dinner before being rushed off to the airport. Thankfully the roads on Sunday evening in Little Rock are nearly deserted. We made it to the airport in record time. I had heard stories about the security line at the Little Rock airport while I was in Dallas waiting to get on the plane last week on my way out there that were ringing in my ears as I approached the line. The first thing that I noticed is that there was one guy that was checking people's tickets and comparing the name on the boarding pass to that on their ID card. Now, for whatever reason, most people were being sent into a line that was sort of in a holding pattern of sorts. When it was my turn, the guy looked at my ticket and sent me the other way right on to the front of the line where you proceed to take off your clothes for security screening. Now, for those of you who know me...you know Shlurmy. ...and you probably know Arnie. Well, I was wearing Arnie because we had come straight from the recital. I wondered if it would set off the alarm on the little security thing, and sure enough...I was a security threat. So, after convincing the mentally challenged airport security workers that I have a prosthesis and that this is what is setting off the alarm...I was rushed into a holding patter of my own where I waited at least 15 minutes for a guy to come pat me down. Dear LORD this took FOREVER!!! Anyway...I got on the plane and was able to take a little catnap for the short 45min flight back to the big D.
Its getting late and I should catch up on some much needed sleep. Sorry that I've been MIA here for the past month or so. I'll be back much more often now. :o)
