Summer Hiatis

I must apologize to any readers that have been awaiting a new entry on my blogging front...as I have been absent for the past while. Hmm, lets see...I guess that I should start with some updates! First of all, I learned quickly that 14 years was far too many to be away from the game of Lacrosse to think that I could just step back in and have fun at the same time!? I was running around like a chicken with its head cut off! So, done and done on the LAX field. I find I am best suited as a fan. :-)

What I HAVE been doing this summer is busting my gluts at the gym! I, at one point, was down 51 lbs before vacationing to Galveston and Santa Fe, where I gave myself permission to eat, drink, and be merry...which took me up 9 lbs. Its ok, today I'm back at it and will lose 9 by this time next week GUARANTEED!

Speaking of Santa Fe, I just returned from visiting my great friend Aaron to see his debut as Don Basilio in Le nozze di Figaro. Aaron was simply put, the BEST Basilio that has ever sung the role. I emphasize SUNG - as the role is a character part...Aaron sang it with beautiful timbre and brought to it a wonderful character without making him sound like the music teacher cant sing!! GO AARON! It was a beautiful production with some GREAT singing! I MUST give MEGA props to my friend Isabel Leonard. Isabel and I went to Juilliard together and she has become a ROCK STAR! I kid you not, this girl is the real deal and I was sooooo proud to be there for her debut! There was another Juilliard alumni returning to Santa Fe as the Countess, the lovely Susannah Phillips (the best hugger in the world) - She continues to rock the house EVERY summer out there in the desert. I'm sure that other sopranos must be rediculously jealous!! heehee.

Ok, I didnt intend for that to be a review...it just sorta started to happen. Anyway, I am looking forward to being back on the road in 3 weeks as I tackle, once again, the role of Sharpless. I am making my debut with Atlanta Opera alongside Richard Leech and Joanna Kozlowska.

Until then, I plan to spend as much time as I can here at home with my family and at the gym!

I hope that this finds everyone well! Go USA!!! (I might kinda be addicted to the olympics)
